Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers today announced various promotions planned for their first two home games of the regular season on Friday, Oct. 28 (7:15 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 29 (6 p.m.) at Bojangles' Coliseum.

Doors will open 90 minutes prior to the above-listed start times on both nights. The team will face the Grand Rapids Griffins in each contest.

For the first time ever, fans can bid on the opportunity to drop the ceremonial first puck prior to the start of Friday's opener, with proceeds benefiting the Checkers Charitable Foundation. Those interested in placing bids should download the "DASH Auction" app for iOS or Android and find the relevant listing.

Friday's opening of the Checkers' second season at the renovated Bojangles' Coliseum will also feature a pair of giveaways: a free t-shirt to the first 2,000 fans and magnet schedules to the first 4,000 fans in attendance courtesy of Novant Health. The Josh Daniel/Mark Schimick Project, a local bluegrass band, will be playing outside Bojangles' Coliseum beginning at 5:45 p.m.

Saturday's jam-packed festivities kick off with the pregame portion of Superhero Night, during which fans who purchase special $20 tickets by calling (704) 342-4423 can meet their favorite super heroes for pictures and autographs starting at 4 p.m. An available $25 package also comes with a souvenir puck.

As part of Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, members of the military may purchase discounted tickets by calling (704) 342-4423 and can also enjoy discounted concessions by presenting their military ID. The Checkers will recognize members of the military throughout the evening, which will also include a swear-in conducted by the Air Force during the first intermission.

Saturday is also the first of seven Family Nights, for which fans can save $45 (40 percent) on groups of four tickets while purchasing via Ticketmaster, this season. In addition, college students can save on tickets by visiting gocheckers.com/college and buying tickets online using their valid college email address as part of College Night presented by Hendrick Acura.

The Saturday game will also feature a community component, as all fans that bring a pair of shoes to donate to Samaritan's Feet will receive a free ticket to the game on Nov. 23.

For additional details on tickets and promotions, please contact the Checkers by calling (704) 342-4423 or emailing tickets@gocheckers.com.
