Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers dropped their second game in a row at Werner Park, losing 4-2 to the Salt Lake Bees on Monday. The two-game skid marks the first time that the Chasers have lost back-to-back contests at Werner Park this season.
Southpaw Mike Montgomery (2-1) was stung with the loss as he yielded three runs over four hits while issuing three free passes to Salt Lake (24-21) over 6.0 innings pitched. Third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff and catcher Cody Clark knocked a run in each, compiling all of the Storm Chasers' (27-18) offense in the process.
The Bees struck quickly for three runs in the second when Montgomery gave up a single, a double and a three-run home run. Undaunted, Omaha battled back in the home half of the second to come within a run. Second baseman Tony Abreu reached on a single and was brought home by Kouzmanoff's sac fly three batters later. Clark's RBI single allowed David Lough to score, who had reached base earlier in the inning on a fielder's choice.
Unfortunately, that was all she wrote for Omaha on the offensive end of the spectrum. Abreu did triple with two outs in the eighth but was stranded by Lough who flew out to end the threat.
Salt Lake added one last insurance run in the ninth inning to take a 4-2 lead. Anthony Seratelli, Kouzmanoff and pinch-hitter Max Ramirez all struck out in the ninth to end the game.
The Storm Chasers and Bees will lock horns for game two of this four-game set on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday's contest features a Clint Robinson jersey t-shirt giveaway for the first 1,000 fans in attendance, thanks to our friends at QuikTrip and Pepsi. Tuesday's game against the Bees can be heard locally on AM 1180 and online at omahastormchasers.com.
