Zephyrs Get Roughed up in Reno

RENO, Nevada - Randy Ruiz drilled a first inning grand slam to lead the Reno Aces to a 10-4 win over the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs. Z's starter Tom Koehler loaded the bases with two hits and a walk and on the 13th pitch of the game Ruiz slammed his 11th home run of the season. The grand-slam is Ruiz, third of the season. Koehler had his shortest outing of the season, worked 2.1 innings allowing eight runs on nine hits and suffered the defeat. Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Daniel Hudson made a major league rehab assignment and worked five innings and allowed two runs on five hits to earn the win. New Orleans newcomer Chris Gutierrez drilled a two run home run in his debut. The Zephyrs have dropped four of five on the trip.

Game Notes - The Pacific Coast League named Zephyrs south-paw Wade LeBlanc pitcher of the week. The Z's have allowed 12 first inning runs in their last five games. The Zephyrs have a pair of Reno natives making a homecoming: Chris Aguila and Scott Cousins.
