Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced that Defenseman, Chase Cheslock has departed from the Lancers' organization and has joined the University of St. Thomas hockey roster for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Cheslock began what was set to be his first full-time season in the USHL back in September of 2023. But only skated in 15 games due to injury, on top of being called up from his committed division one program. On the short season, the 19-Year-Old captained the Lancers while gathering an impressive eight points, including three assists in his final game back on December 9th, 2023; a 5-4 overtime loss in Sioux City.

On December 11th, 2023, Cheslock left Omaha for the University of St. Thomas to prep for his college debut on December 29th. But was officially taken off the Lancers' roster on January 1st, 2024.

Within the 2022-23 season, Cheslock joined the Lancers following his high school hockey season at Rogers High in Minnesota. It was not a standard "before-and-after" type season for the defenseman as he did some time with the St. Cloud Norsemen of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) before the school season, then hopped on the Omaha roster following the conclusion of his time back at Rogers High.

While with the Norsemen, the New Jersey Devils Draft Pick notched his first junior hockey goal, as well as tallied two assists in 18 games played. He then averaged over a point per game at Rogers High with 31 points (4G-27A-31P) in 28 games played, before collecting five points in 15 games with the Lancers to close out the season. Scoring his first USHL goal on March 19th, 2023 at Liberty First Credit Union Arena to force overtime against the Sioux City Musketeers.

The 6-foot-3, 199 Pound Blueliner joined the Tommies as they sit in second place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) with an overall record of 9-10-1 with a 7-5-0 conference record. Only trailing the first place Bemidji State Beavers.

The entire Lancers organization wishes Chase the best of luck with his college hockey career and hope to see him on the New Jersey Devils' roster in the future!
