Charlotte Independence News Release
The Charlotte Independence congratulate David Tepper, Tepper Sports and Entertainment and the City of Charlotte on landing an MLS franchise. From the inception of the Independence in 2014, our mission has been to serve the Charlotte area with the highest level of soccer possible and build on the existing foundations for youth development. We are excited the addition of MLS will further that mission.
We are actively exploring ways in which the Independence and Tepper Sports and Entertainment can grow soccer in Charlotte, together. The Independence continue preparations for the 2020 USL Championship season, as renovations to American Legion Memorial Stadium progress toward completion in 2021. Our team will continue the work of earning the support of the Charlotte community.
