
Charlotte Assigns Ajinca

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that the Charlotte Bobcats have assigned Alexis Ajinca to the team. He joins Bill Walker, who was assigned by Boston on November 21, as NBA players on assignment with the Red Claws. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.
Ajinca, 7-0, has appeared in six games for the Bobcats this season, averaging 1.7 points and 5.0 minutes. Last season, he appeared in 31 games for Charlotte, averaging 2.3 points, 1.0 rebound and 5.9 minutes before being assigned to Sioux Falls of the NBA D-League on March 9, 2009 for the remainder of the season. He averaged 11.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 22.8 minutes with the Skyforce, scoring in double-figures in eight of eleven games.
Originally selected in the first round, 20th overall, of the 2008 NBA Draft by Charlotte, Ajinca played two seasons professionally in his native France prior to entering the NBA Draft.
Ajinca, who arrived in Maine last night, will be in the lineup Friday night when the Red Claws face the Springfield Armor at the Portland Expo in the team's first home game of the season.
