
Bighorns Fall To Stampede, 123-104

BOISE, Idaho- Rod Benson recorded the first Reno double-double of the season on Monday night, but the Bighorns squandered an early lead and fell 123-104 to the Idaho Stampede at Qwest Arena.
Reno (0-2) jumped out to a nine-point lead after one quarter of play, but from there the Stampede (2-0) took over. Idaho outscored the Bighorns by 14 in the second quarter and by 15 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead.
Benson scored a team-high 28 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Reno. The California product shot 11-of-17 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line. He kicked in three assists, three steals and three blocks.
All five Bighorns starters finished in double figures, including a 21-point effort by Russell Robinson.
Idaho's Anthony Tolliver led all scorers with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bighorns will now hit the final leg of their season-opening three-game road trip when they visit the Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Friday. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. PST and the action can be seen live on NBA Futurecast by visiting www.nba.com/dleague.
Reno's home opener is set for Dec. 5, when the Bighorns take on the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Reno Events Center.
