Chicago Rush News Release

Chicago Rush FB/LB Charlie Cook was named the Arena Football League's U.S. Army Ironman of the Week for his performance Sunday in Chicago's 45-21 playoff-clinching win at Nashville, the AFL announced today.

Cook (6-0, 290, C. W. Post), who switched from lineman to FB/LB earlier in the season, recorded three tackles, carried the ball twice for 10 yards and a touchdown, and caught a 16-yard touchdown pass in the win.

"It's a great honor for Charlie," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "He has worked extremely hard after switching positions earlier this year and has really come along well. His improvement is a big reason for our success in the second half of the season."

Cook played in 12 games this year, recording 11.5 tackles. He also carried the ball seven times for 39 yards and two touchdowns, and caught two passes for 35 yards and a TD.

The Rush (9-7) begins its quest for the ArenaBowl XIX title this Sunday, May 29, when it travels to Los Angeles to take on the Western Division-champion Avengers (10-6) in an American Conference semifinal. The game, which kicks off at 2:30 p.m. central time, will be broadcast in Chicago on NBC 5 and heard on WCKG, 105.9 FM.
