JUPITER, Fla. -- The Clearwater Threshers held the lead into the sixth behind a solid start from Aaron Nola, but the Jupiter Hammerheads rallied for a pair of unearned runs and held on to hand the Threshers a 3-2 loss on Friday at Roger Dean Stadium.

A one-out single and a walk off Kevin Walter (0-3) had the Hammerheads threatening in the bottom of the sixth, and an error charged to third baseman Harold Martinez permitted the tying run to cross. With two outs, Noah Perio dropped an RBI single into right to push across the go-ahead run for Jupiter.

Clearwater (14-20) grabbed the game's first run in the opening inning.

Roman Quinn led off the game with a single to right, and advanced to second when Cody Keefer mishandled the ball in right. Quinn would move up to third on a wild pitch, and Anthony Phillips reached on a base on balls.

J.P. Crawford worked a 2-0 count before lining an opposite-field single to left to bring home Quinn for a 1-0 lead.

Jupiter (9-24) was quick to answer, with Justin Bohn opening the home half with a lead-off single against Nola. Bohn went to second on a groundout, and Matt Juengel pushed a double up the first base line to tie the game at one.

Hammerheads' starter Austin Brice had set down nine straight before Art Charles put the Threshers back out in front. After Brice fell behind him 3-1, Charles blasted a liner over the wall in right-center for his team-leading 11th home run of the season, giving Clearwater a 2-1 advantage.

Nola would not factor in the decision, despite turning in a strong five innings. He allowed one run on five hits and a walk, striking out four. The base on balls was the first issued by Nola since his professional debut.

The Phillies' first-rounder wrapped up his sixth outing having thrown 68 pitches, 44 of which were for strikes. He has gone five innings in each of his last four outings.

After Jupiter took the lead against Walter in the sixth, the Threshers' reliever would settle in to retire the final seven men he faced in order.

With the team's even at one apiece in the four-game set, Clearwater will again battle Jupiter at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday. The call can be heard live on threshersbaseball.com beginning at 6:20 p.m.
