Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
As Taylor Field undergoes a flat-out facelift to host the Grey Cup on November 16, changes are being made to security and parking around the stadium to ensure public safety.
In light of the ongoing construction of over 23,000 temporary seats, nightly security patrols have already begun, and will be increased closer to Grey Cup, to ensure no public hazard is created as a result of the work. Patrols will also include canine security on a random basis.
Protecting assets at the stadium, the safety of the workers and the general public are the reasons behind the increased security levels.
The impressive construction is also affecting and limiting traffic flow and parking around Taylor Field. For people travelling by car near the stadium, we kindly ask you to slow down and obey all traffic signs. It may take a little longer, but your patience will ensure everyone stays safe.
On Rider game days, your best bet is to come early, park early, or take the Rider Express and enjoy all the pre-game festivities. By planning ahead, delays will be minimized and you'll be free to cheer the Riders all the way to the Grey Cup.
"The construction of the temporary seats is going smoothly and we're right on schedule. Barring no unforeseen delays, we hope to have close to 13,000 of the temporary seats open for business for a crowd of close to 40,000 cheering at the big Labour Day game against Winnipeg," said Marty Klyne, President of Grey Cup 2003 Inc. "We appreciate the patience of the community during this construction phase and we promise a true flat-out experience in November."
