OTTAWA - Another injury has prompted the Ottawa Champions to make two more changes to their roster, swapping one relief pitcher for another.

The two roster moves began with the release of RHP Ryan Leach.

Leach, a Farmingdale, Maine native, was unable to play due to a nagging injury to his throwing arm. He left the Champions after 17 appearances with the team - which was amongst the highest in the Ottawa bullpen. In those appearances, Leach posted a 5.36 ERA with 20 hits and 13 earned runs allowed in his 22 innings pitched.

After his release, Leach announced his retirement from professional baseball. The Champions organization wishes him the best in his future endeavours.

To compensate for the open roster spot, the Champions signed RHP James Jones as a corresponding move.

Jones began this season as a member of the American Association's Sioux Falls Canaries, where he posted an ERA of 7.98 in 16 appearances. He finished 15 games on the campaign and recorded eight saves as the Canaries' closer.

Jones, a 29-year-old from Paducah, Ky., has an LS-3 status after parts of seven seasons in professional baseball.

He was selected by two different MLB organizations in different drafts - the Cleveland Indians in the 45th round of the 2009 Amateur Entry Draft, and was signed by the San Diego Padres after he was selected in the 33rd round of the 2011 Amateur Entry Draft.

The Champions continue their seven-game road trip Tuesday night in a date with the Quebec Capitales at Stade Canac. Ottawa took Game 1 of the series convincingly, riding a grand slam from OF Chase Harris to a 10-1 win.

After the Capitales, Ottawa will play the Trois-Rivieres Aigles for three games before returning home for a six-game homestand. Tickets for all Champions home games are available at www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
