Quebec 4, Ottawa 1
The Capitales jumped out to an early lead and starting pitcher Ryan Searle tossed seven strong innings as Quebec downed Ottawa by a 4-1 score.
Quebec rolled out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as RF Nick Van Stratten scored on a passed ball and LF James McOwen came home on a sacrifice fly from 1B TJ White. The Capitales added a run in the third on an RBI single by CF Kalian Sams and then another one in the sixth on a 3B Lachlan Fontaine sacrifice fly. The Champions would get on the board in the seventh as LF Coco Johnson doubled home 3B Jordan Caillouet.
McOwen went 2-for-4 with a run scored while Van Stratten contributed a double and a pair of runs.
Searle was terrific as he allowed an earned run on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts. The righty threw 104 pitches, 68 strikes, and notched his seventh win of the season.
Trois-Rivieres 8, New Jersey 7
Trois-Rivieres collected their fifth win in a row as they edged past New Jersey by the score of 8-7. After falling behind 4-0 through a half inning of play, the Aigles roared back with six consecutive runs to take a 6-4 advantage and would never look back from there.
The Aigles collected 11 hits as a team with four batters having multi-hit games. Trois-Rivieres RF Michael Suchy went 2-for-4 with a first inning grand slam while 3B Taylor Brennan had a hit in three at-bats and scored twice. First baseman Kevin Cornelius, C Alex Herceg and SS Sam Dexter each chipped in two hits apiece for the Aigles.
Trois-Rivieres starter Yender Caramo threw six innings and picked-up his third win of the year. Caramo gave up five earned runs on eight hits and struck out three.
For New Jersey in the losing effort, 3B Daniel Canela went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
