Capitales Rebound with Win over Champions
July 24, 2018 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - A low-scoring affair swung in the direction of the Quebec Capitales Tuesday at Stade Canac. They took an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Champions 4-1.
The Capitales victory came in spite of a solid complete-game performance from Champions RHP Edilson Alvarez, who allowed all four Capitales runs and eight hits against. He threw just 110 pitches.
Offensively, the Champions got their lone run from INF Jordan Caillouet, after OF Coco Johnson drilled an RBI double into left-centre field during the sixth inning.
While both those players had hits, the best offensive player for the Champions was someone else entirely - INF Michael Hungate had two hits batting out of the ninth position in the lineup.
The Champions and Capitales resume their series for the rubber match Wednesday evening at Stade Canac.
After the Capitales, Ottawa will travel to play the Trois-Rivieres Aigles for three games before returning home for a six-game homestand. Tickets for all Champions home games are available at www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
