June 12, 2018 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - After completing a nine-game homestand, the Ottawa Champions shook up the roster on Monday, signing OF Tillman Pugh to a contract while placing RHP Noah Gapp on Can-Am League irrevocable waivers.
Pugh joins the Champions after enjoying considerable success in the Pacific Association earlier this year. On the roster of the Vallejos Admirals, he is batting .379 in eight games played. The Oakland, Calif. native is known for speed - swiping four bases to this point and 30 in the 2017 season with the Pacific Association champions.
At the time of his release, Gapp had a 0-2 record on the 2018 campaign in four starts. His ERA was 8.31. The Canadian reliever had allowed 16 earned runs and 23 hits in 17.1 innings pitched.
The Champions now engage in a six-game road trip starting Tuesday, with a three-game set versus the Quebec Capitales. The team will then travel to Sussex County to play the Miners on the weekend.
When Ottawa returns home, the international series also returns to RCGT Park! Ottawa plays Team Dominican Republic June 19-21, with the Caribbean team re-joining the Can-Am League for a second season. Tickets for this series and the rest of the Champions schedule are available at www.ottawachampions.com, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
