Ottawa Champions News Release
Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Champions starting rotation is starting to fill up, with RHP Drew Granier the latest player to sign on.
The 26-year-old spent most of last season with the Midland Rockhounds, the Oakland Athletics' AA affiliate, where he went 7-7 with a 4.56 ERA in 26 appearances (24 starts).
He also made one start for the AAA Sacramento River Cats.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to go out there and compete in a new environment", says Granier. "I like to put on a good show for the fans and strike some guys out while I'm at it."
Granier was originally drafted by the A's in the 32nd round of the 2011 MLB amateur draft out of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
He's expected to slot into the number two spot in the rotation behind former Midland teammate Andrew Werner, who signed with the Champions earlier this week.
More additions to the team's inaugural season roster are expected in the coming weeks as they prepare for Opening Day, May 22nd at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park against the Sussex County Miners.
Season tickets are on sale for $475, flex packs are available for as low as $89.00, and single game tickets will be available in the coming days. Email tickets@ottawachampions.com, call 613-745-2255 or visit www.ottawachampions.com for more information.
