Ottawa Champions News Release
Ottawa, ON - First baseman Jon Talley has become the third former member of the Toronto Blue Jays organization to join the Ottawa Champions this off-season.
The 26-year-old native of Carlsbad, CA has agreed to terms with the club after being acquired from the New Jersey Jackals last week in exchange for cash.
Talley was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 2007 MLB draft, and spent seven seasons in their system, making it as high as Double-A New Hampshire in 2013.
Last year with the Jackals he smacked 13 homeruns and drove in 50 runs in 91 games.
He joins relief pitchers Chris Cox, who was also drafted by the Blue Jays, and Nick Purdy, who played in their organization from 2010 to 2012.
To make room for Talley on the roster, the Champions have traded IF Ryan Lashley to the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association, in exchange for future considerations.
The Ottawa Champions are getting ready for the start of Spring Training on May 10th, with Opening Day slated for May 22nd at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park against the Sussex County Miners.
Season tickets are on sale for $475, flex packs are available for as low as $89.00, and single game tickets will be available in the coming days. Email tickets@ottawachampions.com, call 613-745-2255 or visit www.ottawachampions.com for more information.
