Challenge Round Preview: Mayhem Set 19-Man Playoff Roster

MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem are gearing up for the three-game Challenge Round series against the Evansville Thunderbolts starting on the road on Thursday, and on Monday, Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kerr set the Mayhem's 19-player playoff roster.

The 19-man playoff roster features 10 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders. Defenseman Daniel Echeverri is one of the notable additions, as has been added to the roster after completing his loan with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL.

Challenge Round Series Preview

The three-game series between the Mayhem and Thunderbolts will begin this Thursday, April 12 at 7:00 PM CDT at the Ford Center in Evansville. Game two will be played on Saturday, April 14 at 7:35 PM at the Macon Coliseum, and game three will be played on Sunday, April 14 at 4:30 PM at the Macon Coliseum - if necessary.

"[Thunderbolts Head Coach] Jeff Pyle and I know each other very well and we play very similar styles and systems," said Kerr. "It will be a tough matchup, but it's going to come down to whoever plays harder and can execute better. It's going to be a tough matchup, but that just comes with the territory of playoff hockey."

Playoff tickets are $12 general admission tickets, but season tickets holders will have their seats reserved throughout the postseason and can purchase tickets for $10. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Macon Mayhem Front Office or Macon Coliseum Box Office or over the phone through the Mayhem Front Office at (478) 803-1592. Fans who purchase playoff tickets will be able to pick up tickets from the Macon Coliseum Box Office starting Tuesday, or tickets can be left at will call.

The Mayhem went 4-1-2 in seven games against Evansville this season, but they fell 3-2 in overtime to the Thunderbolts on Saturday. The Mayhem finished the regular season in second place with a record of 33-16-7 and 73 points, while the Thunderbolts finished the regular season in sixth place with a 27-20-9 record and 63 points. The Mayhem begin their President's Cup title defense with this Challenge Round matchup against Evansville, who will be making their first appearance in the President's Cup Playoffs in franchise history.

Evansville ranked seventh in the regular season in goals, scoring 3.32 goals per game, and they also ranked seventh in goals against, allowing 3.41 goals per game. The Thunderbolts boast a record of 14-9-5 at home at the Ford Center this season, but they are just 13-11-4 on the road. The Mayhem posted a 17-9-2 record on home ice, with a record of 16-7-5 on the road.
