CF Montréal Taking on Columbus Wednesday Night
August 2, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Club de Foot Montreal News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio - After a 0-0 draw against New York City FC on Saturday night at Stade Saputo, another important matchup awaits CF Montréal (11-8-3) as the team takes on the Columbus Crew (7-5-9) this Wednesday night at 7:30 pm EDT at Lower.com Field (TVA Sports, TSN, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
CF Montréal will be looking for its sixth win on the road this season. The team has 36 points after 22 games, a new Club record since entering MLS.
While a gap is beginning to widen in the East between the top four teams and their pursuers, only four points separate 10th place (Charlotte) from fifth (Orlando).
After suffering three consecutive losses on the road to begin the season, Montreal has won five of its last eight away games, including a 2-1 win in Washington on July 23. Those five road wins are a new record for the Club as well.
The Montrealers have lost in Columbus in 10 of their last 14 encounters, including the playoffs. The Crew boasts a home win rate against Montreal of 71.4%, their second best at home against an opponent they've hosted 10 or more times in MLS.
Forward Romell Quioto has scored six goals in his last seven starts, while Kei Kamara has collected six goals and two assists in 17 career regular season games against the Ohio club.
Undefeated in their last nine games, Columbus will have fresh legs after last Saturday's game in Charlotte was cancelled due to inclement weather. The hosts have therefore not played a game since July 23.
