
Red Bulls Fall to the Colorado Rapids, 5-4, at Red Bull Arena

- The New York Red Bulls (10-7-6, 36 pts.) fell to the Colorado Rapids (7-9-6, 27 pts.) 5-4 on Tuesday, August 2 at Red Bull Arena.
- New York opened the scoring in the 6th minute, as Dru Yearwood collected a pass from Luquinhas, took a few steps toward the center edge of the box, and ripped a shot that took a deflection off a Colorado player and into the back of the net.
- The home side doubled their advantage three minutes later, as Lewis Morgan sent the ball into the box off a free kick that was headed in by Aaron Long.
- Colorado cut the deficit in half in the 21st minute, as Diego Rubio sent in a shot that took a deflection on the way in following a pass from Bryan Acosta.
- New York regained a two-goal advantage in the 28th minute, as Morgan converted a penalty kick following a foul of Luquinhas in the box by Lalas Abubakar.
- The Rapids struck in the 38th minute, as Keegen Rosenberry scored off a volley from a pass from Diego Rubio.
- Colorado evened the score in the 77th minute on a corner kick that was initially knocked away by Carlos Coronel, but the loose ball fell to the feet of Collen Warner, who tapped the ball in.
- The visitors took the lead in the 80th minute, as Michael Barrios sent a shot into the back of the net that took a slight deflection following a feed from Rubio.
- The Rapids doubled their advantage in the 89th minute, as Dantouma Toure scored off a rebound after a save from Coronel on a shot by Rubio.
- The match marked the second time this season that the Red Bulls scored three goals in the first half (March 5, at Toronto FC).
- The goals for Yearwood and Long were the second and third fastest goals this season for New York, only behind Lewis Morgan's goal in the second minute against Toronto FC on June 18.
- Yearwood's goal was his second of the season. The midfielder has scored in each of New York's last two MLS matches.
- The goal marked the third of his New York career.
- Luquinhas recorded his third MLS assist and sixth across all competitions.
- Long's goal was his fifth of the season across all competitions and fourth in MLS.
- The defender has 12 goals in his MLS career with New York.
- Morgan tallied his fourth assist of the season and the 16th of his MLS career.
- The goal for Morgan was his 10th in MLS play this season and 13th across all competitions.
- He has 17 goals in his three-year MLS career.
- Morgan has converted all five penalty kicks he has attempted this season. He moved into sole possession of sixth in club history for penalty kick goals, passing Patryk Klimala and Alex Comas.
- Following Tuesday's match, the Red Bulls head to Audi Field for the second time this season to face D.C. United on Saturday, August 6.
