Club de Foot Montreal News Release
ATLANTA, Georgia - After a draw with MLS's top team on Wednesday night, CF Montréal will continue its playoff push against Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this Saturday at 7:30pm (MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, TSN 690).
The playoff race in the East continues to heat up in this final stretch of the season, particularly in the bottom third of the table where five clubs battle for the final two playoff berths. Still in eighth place, Montreal (37 points) is chased by D.C. United (36 points), New York City (34 points), as well as Chicago and Charlotte with 33 points each, not to mention Miami (31 points), who have two games in hand over several of their competitors. Above Montreal in the standings are Nashville in seventh (43 points), Atlanta in sixth (46 points) and New England in fifth (48 points).
Despite an overall record of 3-6-3 against Atlanta, the team's stats at Mercedes-Benz Stadium stand at 0-4-1 with a goal differential of -7. On the team's last visit to the Peach State, Montreal drew 3-3 on March 19, 2022.
On the personal records front, Mathieu Choinière's next start will be his 24th, equalling his own record for the number of starts earned by a Homegrown player in one season. In addition, Romell Quioto, now back in action after an extended absence through injury, is on the verge of playing his 150th MLS match. The Honduran forward has played 77 regular-season games with CF Montréal since joining the Club in 2020 from Houston.
The hosts, meanwhile, hold a 9-3-3 home record and are looking to clinch their playoff berth. Atlanta has just one loss in its last six games. The Five Stripes defeated Miami 5-2 on September 16, before drawing 1-1 on the road against D.C. United on Wednesday, conceding late in the game.
