Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - Back at home after a win in the American capital, CF Montréal (11-8-2) will cross swords with defending MLS champions New York City FC (12-4-5) this Saturday at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo.
This will be the second and final meeting against the New Yorkers this season after a 4-1 loss in March at Yankee Stadium.
With a win on Saturday, Montreal could leapfrog the New York Red Bulls into third place in the East and close the gap on leaders New York City (41 pts) and Philadelphia (42 pts).
With 13 games left in the regular season, Montreal's offense tied a team record with 36 goals scored after 21 games, thanks in part to nine goals from forward Romell Quioto, who netted a brace last Saturday against D.C. United, a personal best in a single season for the Honduran international.
The visitors have won four of their last five games against Montreal. NYCFC has never lost a game in Montreal as their only road loss came in a game in Harrison, New Jersey in 2021 while Montreal could not play in Canada.
After 21 games, New York City FC has collected 41 points so far, the highest points total by a defending MLS champion in that span.
