New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (6-7-8; 26 pts.) are back at home to host Toronto FC (6-12-4; 22 pts.) at Gillette Stadium on Saturday night. The match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET on WBZ and myRITV (Rhode Island) with Brad Feldman, Charlie Davies, and Tamara Brown calling the action. Saturday's contest also airs locally on the radio via 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio in Portuguese. CBS Boston's pregame coverage begins with "Revolution Kickoff" on WBZ at 7:30 p.m. ET.

New England returns home to Foxborough for the first time since July 3 looking to snap a five-game winless skid. The Revolution closed the away stretch with a 0-0 draw in Columbus last Saturday, marking the club's fourth clean sheet of the 2022 campaign. New England's defense was anchored by center back Henry Kessler, who earned MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week honors for his performance in the shutout, alongside Andrew Farrell. Kessler, who has started four straight matches since returning from a leg injury, enters the weekend on the verge of surpassing 5,000 minutes played in MLS with his next full 90-minute outing. Between the posts, goalkeeper Djordje Petrović made six saves en route to his second shutout.

Saturday's match also featured the Revolution and MLS debut of Designated Player Giacomo Vrioni. The 23-year-old Albanian forward, acquired earlier this month from Italian side Juventus FC, posted a 23-minute shift off the bench. Vrioni, who finished as the co-leader in goals scored in the Austrian Bundesliga last season, is set to make his Gillette Stadium debut in front of Revolution supporters this weekend.

Revolution captain Carles Gil, who will participate in the 2022 MLS All-Star Game and All-Star Skills Challenge in August, leads the Revolution with three career goals in as many games against the Reds. Gil notched his first career brace in his first meeting with Toronto in March 2019. The Spaniard remains tied for the league lead in assists with 11 and is pacing MLS in chances created by a wide margin. With his next assist, the 2022 MLS MVP will surpass Diego Fagundez (45) for third place on the club's all-time list.

The Revolution lead the all-time series against Toronto FC, 14-10-11, including a 10-4-5 record at Gillette Stadium. New England has logged results in three of the last five encounters with TFC. The Reds snapped a five-game winless streak last weekend with a 4-0 shutout win over Charlotte FC, before falling to Vancouver in the Canadian Championship Final midweek. Toronto is guided by first-year Head Coach Bob Bradley, a former assistant to Bruce Arena at the University of Virginia (1983-1984) and D.C. United (1996-1997).
