FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida - CF Montréal was defeated 2-0 by Inter Miami CF on Saturday in the Club's opening match of the 2023 MLS season at DRV PNK Stadium. Serhiy Kryvtsov (41') opened the score for the home side followed by Shanyder Borgelin in the 76th minute.

CF Montréal will continue its 2023 MLS season against Austin FC next Saturday, March 4, at 8:30pm ET at Q2 Stadium.

-Nathan Saliba, Sean Rea and Jonathan Sirois each played their first professional match with CF Montréal's first team. Saliba also earned the first start of his career.

-Defender Aaron Herrera played his first match with CF Montréal and the 135th match of his MLS career. It was also his 120th start in the league.

-Mathieu Choinière played his 75th MLS match with CF Montréal. He becomes the second all-time leader among Montreal Homegrown players.

"We will try to retain the positives today with all the scoring chances we created. But today was also a lack of efficiency. You need to put the ball in the back of the net if you want to pick up points, especially on the road. Defensively, the first goal was a set piece where we need to be sharper. We already conceded some in preseason games and we tried to address that this week. But in general, I believe we had the better chances and that we deserve at least a point from the match."

"Miami played a very good match. But they didn't have very many great chances. We had three or four. If we convert that early scoring chance, is it a different game? Perhaps. But the game is done. It was the first match of the season. There were some positives and some things that need to be addressed. That's why it's a 34-game season. We will learn from tonight."
