Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - With training camp slated to start Friday, the Bakersfield Condors added some major depth to their roster. Centerman Alexandre Bolduc was assigned to Bakersfield from the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose and netminder Danny Taylor was assigned by the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.
The 21-year-old Bolduc played 24 games for the Condors last season (his rookie year), posting 16 points (10g, 6a). He also notched eight points (4g, 4a) in 11 playoff games, helping Bakersfield advance to the Pacific Division Finals. He was selected to the 2006 ECHL All-Star Team, but was re-called by Manitoba and didn't play.
Bolduc also appeared in 29 games for Manitoba last season, recording 10 points (3g, 7a). The 6- foot-2-inch, 200-pound native of Montreal spent the previous four years playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. During his QMJHL tenure, he posted 156 points (57g, 99a) in 257 games. Bolduc was a fourth round selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
"Alex was a big help to our club last season and contributed nicely in the playoffs," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "We're looking forward to seeing him booster the offense, but we'd also like to see him get called back up to Manitoba."
Taylor, who's been in training came with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs, becomes the third goaltender in as many years to be assigned to the Condors by the Kings. (Yutaka Fukufuji and Ryan Munce were the other two)
The 20-year-old begins his professional career in 2006-07 after spending the previous three seasons playing juniors in the Ontario Hockey League. In 57 appearances for the Kingston Frontenacs last season, Taylor went 32-15-6 with a 3.11 goals- against average and .911 save percentage.
Taylor spent the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons with the Guelph Storm, posting a combined record of 29-18-6. The 6-foot-1-inch, 177-pound netminder from Ottawa was a seventh round selection of the kings in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
