Maine Celtics News Release

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Celtics picked up their fourth-straight victory as they defeated the Cleveland Charge, 110-84 with the help of a G League career-high 23 points from Tony Snell.

Snell finished with 23 points and four rebounds to lead Maine (12-7). Marial Shayok notched 20 points and five rebounds for his seventh 20-point performance in the last eight games. Luka Samanic posted 16 points and 10 rebounds for his 17th double-double of the season. Two-Way big Mfiondu Kabengele put up 11 points and 17 rebounds for his 19th double-double while fellow Two-Way JD Davison added six points, four boards and eight assists. Scottie Lindsey totaled 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Nate Hinton and Jamorko Pickett led Cleveland (9-7) with 19 points each; Hinton had seven rebounds and Pickett grabbed nine. Rashad Vaughn logged 16 points and seven rebounds and Jordan Allen turned in 11 points. Gabe Osabuohien put up 12 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Pickett's pull-up three in transition broke the ice after over two minutes of scoreless play to open the night. The two sides shot a combined 3-15 from the floor to start the game in a rock fight of a first quarter, as the Celtics led just 6-5 at the seven-minute mark. Cleveland was only able to muster 15 points in the first and shot 26.3 percent from the field while Maine was at 47.6 percent. After Denzel Valentine's buzzer-beating corner three, Maine led 26-15 heading into the second.

The Celtics cruised out to a 35-15 lead by the first break in the second quarter. Shayok got himself up to 10 points on a perfect 3-3 with a pair of triples early in the frame. Ball movement, active cutting and high-level effort have been Maine's keys to success all season long, and they put those principles to the test as they built a 42-28 lead with a handful of minutes left until the half. A 17-7 run late in the quarter helped the Charge get within 10 by the break, 50-40.

An 8-3 run out of the locker room opened things right back up for the Celtics and forced the Charge into a timeout down 58-43. Maine stretched the lead beyond 20 as the third quarter wore on, still holding Cleveland well below 40 percent shooting as a team. The Celtics rolled through the first three quarters, and with the help of 12 third-quarter points from Snell, Maine led 82-57 after three.

The Charge scored five unanswered to begin the fourth quarter, but AJ Reeves nailed the first of his three fourth-quarter triples to quell Cleveland's run. Reeves and Snell powered Maine's offense down the stretch while Reggie Kissoonlal anchored the defense, and the Celtics charged to a 110-82 victory, their fourth-straight.

Maine and Cleveland will complete a back-to-back tomorrow, Feb. 11. The Celtics are off for the All-Star break until Feb. 24 when they visit the Greensboro Swarm.
