
Cats upend New Britian

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
New Britain, CT- Scott Richmond pitched seven innings of three-hit baseball to record his team-leading fifth victory, and Eric Nielsen went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 4-2 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats before a crowd of 4, 217 at New Britain Stadium on Monday night.
New Hampshire (28-46) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning against losing pitcher Kyle Aselton (3-2). Jacob Butler (2-for-5, R) and Ryan Patterson (1-for-4, R) began the frame with singles before Scott Campbell (1-for-2, 2 BB, R) walked to load the bases. Nielsen (3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R), who entered the game with two RBIs all season, matched that with a two-run single to left field. Two outs later, Aaron Mathews (1-for-3, RBI, 2 BB) grounded a single to left, scoring Campbell.
The Fisher Cats upped the lead to 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning when Nielsen doubled and scored when Ryan Klosterman (2-for-4, RBI) singled off Aselton.
New Britain (33-41) got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Dustin Martin (1-for-4, RBI) drove in Brock Peterson (0-for-3, BB, R) with a two-out single off Richmond.
Richmond (5-8) scattered three hits over seven innings to earn the win. The right-hander walked three and struck out five.
The Rock Cats cut the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning on an RBI single from David Winfree (1-for-4, RBI) off Zach Dials that scored Erik Lis (0-for-3, BB, R). But Dials struck out Drew Butera (1-for-3, BB) looking with runners on second and third to record his 10th save of the year.
New Hampshire attempts to make it back-to-back wins when right-hander Robert Ray (2-0, 1.29) takes the mound at New Britain Stadium against right-hander Jeff Manship (0-1, 11.25) Tuesday night at 6:35pm. Radio coverage begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
