'Cats Fall to Schaumburg in Series Finale
May 29, 2022 - Frontier League (FL)
Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
SCHAUMBURG, IL - Following last night's come-from-behind win, the ValleyCats took the field at Wintrust Field looking to take the series in a rubber match with the defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers.
Jake Dexter took the ball in his first start of the season for the 'Cats. The Tri-City sidearmer surrendered 5 runs, 4 earned over 4 innings of work. Both Tri-City arms to come on in relief, Aneudy Acosta and Alexander Guillen, would toss two innings, surrendering 3 hits and 1 run each.
Brad Zunica (2-for-4) and Jesus Lujano (4-for-5) turned in multi-hit games, including 1 extra base-hit and RBI each. However, the Schaumburg arms overpowered the Tri-City lineup, holding 4 Tri-City hitters hitless, and only allowing 3 runs (2 earned) to cross the plate, securing the series win for the Boomers.
