Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats hung tough throughout their annual Fourth of July home game, but five ninth inning runs gave the Vermont Lake Monsters a 6-1 win.

Gilberto Celestino provided the ValleyCats' lone run, leading off the fourth inning with his first long ball of the year to give the Tri-City a 1-0 lead.

Former Houston Astros 2017 first round draft choice, J.B. Bukauskas, who pitched for Tri-City one season ago, started the game for the ValleyCats.

Bukauskas threw two hitless innings, before being relieved by Austin Hansen.

Hansen stranded the bases loaded in the third inning, before holding the Lake Monsters scoreless again in the fourth.

After the bottom of the fourth inning, the game went into 57-minute delay due to a power outage at Joe Bruno Stadium.

Following the delay, Cody Deason hurled a hitless fifth to preserve the ValleyCats' 1-0 lead.

Hansel Paulino then took over in the sixth, giving up a solo home run to Jameson Hannah that tied the game at 1-1.

The homer was the first of Hannah's professional career.

The game remained tied until the ninth inning, when Luis De Paula surrendered five runs (four earned) in the ninth inning, resulting in a 6-1 loss for Tri-City.

The 'Cats second straight loss puts them at 9-10 on the season, now two games behind Vermont for first place in the Stedler Division.

Tri-City will continue its six-game home stand at Joe Bruno Stadium tomorrow night, on Across the USA Night, with first pitched scheduled for 7 p.m.

Coverage will begin on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
