Cats double Junior 4-2

Despite missing two penalty shots in the third period and trailing 1-0 at the one minute mark of the game, the Moncton Wildcats came back to defeat the Montreal Junior by a 4-2 margin on Wednesday night in Verdun. The victory moved the Cats back into first place in the Atlantic Division of the Q.

The Junior started the scoring parade at the one minute mark on Asselin's goal. Devon MacAusland tied the score for the Wildcats at 3:42, Simon Jodoin and Louis Domingue assisting. Scott Brannon with his 9th of the year put the Cats in front at 4:18, Randy Cameron and Kirill Kabanov set up the play. Eliezer Sherbatov with a power play goal at 12:58 made it 2 all and that's how the period ended.

In the middle frame, Marek Hrivik scored on the Wildcats power play at 2:41, Bissonnette and Barberio drew assists. Randy Cameron with a bullet shot to the bottom left hand corner at 17:44 upped the Moncton lead to 4-2 after 40 minutes.

No scoring in the final 20 minutes but the Wildcats had two great chances to increase their lead when they were award a pair of penalty shots. Hrivik missed on his chance at the 49 second mark, then at 12:11 David Sevard failed to score on Montreal goalie Jake Allen. The Wildcats also missed two chances with an empty net in the last minute of play.

Shots on goal were 41-30 in favor of Montreal. On the power-play the Wildcats were 1 for 2, the Junior 1 for 5.

Randy Cameron of the Cats was named the first star, Simon Jodoin was the second star and Guillaume Asselin of the Junior was third.
