
Juniors Doubled Up by Wildcats 4-2

Montreal, October 21st, 2009 -The Juniors wore pink jerseys on Wednesday night to raise awareness for breast cancer. In the end, it was the Moncton Wildcats that claimed victory as Randy Cameron and goaltender Louis Domingue shined in the victory. The Wildcats defeated the Juniors by a score of 4-2. Guillaume Asselin and Eliezer Sherbatov scored for the Juniors while Devon MacAusland, Mark Barberio, Marek Hrivik, and Randy Cameron scored the four Moncton goals.
Just a minute into the first period, Juniors winger Guillaume Asselin scored his seventh goal of the season on the rebound shot from the initial odd-man rush. Louis-Marc Aubry and Nicolas Chouinard earned the assists. The Moncton Wildcats answered back with two quick goals. Center Devon MacAusland scored short side at 3:42 from Simon Jodoin and Louis Domingue. Just 26 seconds later, the Wildcats struck again as defenseman Mark Barberio put the puck past Jake Allen's glove. Juniors were able to capitalize on the power play and tied the game as forward Eliezer Sherbatov cashed in on the rebound chance from the slapper by Loic Poudrier at 12:58. Allen made several key saves to keep this a tied game at 2-2 going the second period. A highlight save was when he stoned Russian prospect Kirill Kabanov with the left pad on the breakaway. Shots favored Moncton 13 to 11 going to the second.
The Moncton Wildcats took the lead in the second when the Slovakian native, Marek Hrivik, wristed the puck past Jake Allen's blocker on the power play at 2:41. Matthew Bissonette and Mark Barberio were credited with the assists. The physical play stepped up as Juniors Pier-Antoine Dion and Wildcats Olivier Daoust were involved in the fisticuffs at 3:57. The Wildcats doubled their lead when Randy Cameron sniped one into the net for his sixth of the season from David Savard and Simon Jodoin. The Juniors were able to put more pressure in the second as they outshot the Wildcats 14 to 9. However, Wildcats goaltender Louis Domingue stood his ground as he stopped all 14 shots he faced in the second. The scored going to the third period was Moncton 4, Montreal 2.
There was no scoring in third. The Moncton Wildcats defeated the Juniors 4 to 2.
Montreal goalie Jake Allen allowed 4 goals on 30 shots and took the loss. Moncton goaltender Louis Domingue stopped 39 of 41 shots to earn the victory. The Wildcats are now 10-4-1-1 while the Montreal Juniors fall to 7-7-0-1.
The next opponent for the Juniors will be the defending champs, the Drummondville Voltigeurs at home on Friday at 7:35PM. Then, the Juniors will head east for a three-game road swing. They will play the Halifax Mooseheads on Thursday, October 29th, the Prince Edward Island Rocket on October 31st, and the Moncton Wildcats on November 1st.

WILDCATS DE MONCTON VS JUNIOR DE MONTRÃAL Le Junior joue pour le cancer du sein
Montréal, le 21 octobre 2009 - C'est tout vêtu de rose que le Junior de Montréal affrontait mercredi soir les Wildcats de Moncton pour la première fois de la saison dans cette soirée qui promouvait la sensibilisation à la lutte contre le cancer du sein. Les hommes de Pascal Vincent étaient à la recherche de la victoire qui mettrait fin à une série de 4 défaites, mais ils devront attendre au prochain match car c'est par un pointage de 4 à 2 que les Wildcats l'ont finalement emporté.
Le premier vingt s'est montré très offensif de la part des deux équipes, et c'est l'ailier Guillaume Asselin qui ouvre la marque après seulement 1 minute de jeu donnant ainsi les devants à son équipe. Ce n'est que deux minutes plus tard que le centre MacAusland enfile le deuxième but du match pour niveler la marque au tableau, suivit par son acolyte Scott Brannon des Wildcats qui trouve le fond du filet seulement 30 secondes plus tard. La recrue Eliezer Sherbatov a cependant su profiter de la supériorité numérique en marquant son sixième but de la saison et permettant aux siens d'égaliser le pointage à 2-2.
Le deuxième tiers a été surmené par la formation acadienne alors que Hrivik trouve le fond du filet à 2 :41 profitant ainsi de l'avantage numérique des siens. C'est ensuite Randy Cameron qui contribue à l'avance des Wildcats, profitant d'une passe de Savard pour décocher un tir entre les jambières d'Allen.
Au dernier engagement, la formation montréalaise a tout essayé pour reprendre le dessus mais sans succès alors que les deux équipes n'ont pu faire bouger le pointage.
Le Junior accueillera de nouveau ses partisans à l'Auditorium de Verdun le vendredi 23 octobre pour faire face aux Voltigeurs de Drummondville, l'équipe actuellement en tête du circuit Courteau. L'équipe se dirigera ensuite vers les Maritimes pour jouer successivement à Halifax (le 29), à PEI (le 31) et à Moncton (le 1er).
