Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach Gerard Gallant announced today that overage forwards Nick Petersen and Mike Hoffman will share the team's third Alternate Captain position this season. Petersen will don the 'A' for the next ten games with Hoffman taking over for the following ten. Yann Sauvé and Michael Kirkpatrick are set to serve as Saint John's full-time Alternate Captains this year, while Mike Thomas was recently named the sixth Team Captain in franchise history.

Both Hoffman and Petersen were acquired by the Sea Dogs in separate trades on June 5, 2009. The all-star line-mates have combined for 7G-7A-14P in 11GP this season since returning from their respective NHL Training Camps (Petersen - Pittsburgh Penguins; Hoffman - Ottawa Senators) late last month.

Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly, meanwhile, has announced that rookie forward Scott Oke has been designated for assignment with his midget team, Charles Lemoyne College (QCMAAA). The 6'2", 174 lb. winger was selected by Saint John in the third round (37th overall) of the 2009 QMJHL Entry Draft. Oke, 16, skated in nine games for the Sea Dogs this season, recording seven shots on goal. A native of St-Lambert, QC, Oke appeared in 44 games with Charles Lemoyne College last year, registering 7G-15A-22P-20PIM.

Currently residing in First Place in the QMJHL's Atlantic Division, the Sea Dogs (10-4-1-0) will take on the Titan (6-6-2-1) tomorrow night at Bathurst's K.C. Irving Regional Centre (puck drop - 7:30pm).
