Moncton Wildcats News Release

Fans and Rio - a Wildcats love affair:

Wildcats fans at the 4-Plex cheered and cheered and Nicola Riopel smiled and smiled as he made his way to centre ice for the official puck drop of Friday's exhibition game between the Cats and the Halifax Moosehead. Preparing for his first NHL training camp with the Philadephia Flyers, Rio got a send off from the fans he thrilled last season with his outstanding goaltending. Prior to the game, he was presented with a pair of trophies as the QMJHL's first all star team goalie and for being part of the League's best defensive team last season.

Wildcats to NHL camps:

September will be an exciting month for current members and alumni of the Wildcats. Off to make a bid for a chance in "The Show" are David Savard, who's headed to the Columbus Blue Jackets camp, Scott Brannon will head for the Nashville Predators camp, Mark Barberio will join the rookies looking for a spot in the Tampa Bay lineup and Ted Stephens will be part of the Montreal Canadiens camp. Alumni Zack Sill is set to make a bid for the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins and of course, Rio to Philadelphia.

McDonald's 7th Player

It's the thrill of a lifetime for a 6-10 year old - being the 7th player for the Moncton Wildcats. We're delighted to announce local McDonald's Restaurants are returning as sponsor of one of our most sought after promotions. This year, we will be introducing a new 7th Player every Friday, Saturday and Sunday home game with the exception of the home opener on Friday, September 18th. 22 young hockey fans will be introduced and skate out with the team's starting line-up and join them for the National Anthem.

Once they are escorted off the ice, McDonald's has 4 seats designated for the 7th Player and their family to enjoy the rest of the game. That's not all, not only does the 7th Player get to KEEP the Wildcats jersey they wore on the ice, but the also get a hockey stick autographed by the entire Moncton Wildcats hockey team! Applications forms are on our website - www.moncton-wildcats.com
