York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution won their third consecutive game, defeating the Sugar Land Skeeters 6-1 at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Revs remain 5.5 games behind the Lancaster Barnstormers, heading into a weekend showdown against Lancaster beginning on Friday night in York.
York scored three times in the third, and three more times in the seventh, providing more than enough offense on a night where six pitchers combined to hold Sugar Land to just five hits.
York used RBI doubles from Brandon Haveman, Ramon Castro, and Andres Perez to take a 3-0 lead in the third.
Castro's double was his 72nd in a York uniform, giving him the all-time club record, moving past Keoni DeRenne who ripped 71 doubles in his time with York from 2007-2009.
Scott Grimes and Chris Nowak rapped RBI singles in the seventh, with a Castro sac fly sandwiched in between. Castro tied the club's all-time RBI record on his double in the third inning, and his sac fly gave him the all-time Revs record for career RBI with 189, moving past Jason Aspito's total of 188.
Sugar Land's only run came in the fifth on a solo homer to left by Matt Hagen.
Revs starter Omar Javier worked 3.2 scoreless innings, with Dumas Garcia entering to strike out Steve Moss stranding two runners in the fourth. Garcia (1-0) earned the win despite allowing the Skeeters' lone run.
Relievers James Houser, Ricardo Gomez, Adam Thomas, and R.J. Rodriguez each worked scoreless frames, with Rodriguez striking out the side in a perfect ninth to finish the win.
Sugar Land starter Michael Nix (1-6), a former Revs closer, suffered the loss allowing three runs in four innings.
The win moves the Revs (27-26) back above .500, while they take three of four in the series from Sugar Land, winning each of the final three contests. York outscored Sugar Land 29-3 over the final three games.
Friday's opener against Lancaster starts at 6:30 p.m. It is the 100th meeting in "War of the Roses" series history. It is also Boy Scout Night #1 with a postgame on-field sleepover. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
