
Bluefish Suffer Third Straight Defeat

(Lancaster, PA - June 20, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (22-30) suffered a third consecutive loss against the Lancaster Barnstormers (32-20) as the road team was defeated by a score of 2-1 at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Wednesday. The Bluefish remain three wins shy of 1,000 in franchise history and are 2-7 against the Barnstormers this season.
Riverside, Connecticut native, Joe Poletsky, picked up his first professional base hit as he roped a double down the left field line in the third inning. The second baseman eventually scored the only run of the night for Bridgeport on an RBI by Eddie Rogers as the shortstop reached base on an error. James Simmons picked up a single in the third and has six in the past three contests. Kennard Jones reached base twice for the road team.
The only offense for the home team came from a two-run shot by Jaime Pedroza in the second. The shot to rightcenter was his ninth of the season.
Bridgeport starter, Jonah Bayliss (1-3), suffered a tough loss as the Bluefish starter completed six innings and allowed two runs on four hits and struck out one. The only blemish on Bayliss' record was the homer in the second. Mike Tarsi and Kyle Zaleski completed the final two frames for the Bluefish. The combination of relievers allowed two hits and a walk while striking out two.
Lancaster hurler, Dwayne Pollok (4-0), picked up the victory as the starter delivered six frames of one runs, four hit and three strikeout baseball. The righthander has tossed sixteen innings and allowed one run against the Bluefish this year; Pollok is 3-0 against Bridgeport in 2012. Beau Vaughan, Jeff Bennett, and Tim Hamulack tossed the final innings of the contest. The tandem combined for three scoreless frames on one hit and a walk while fanning three; Hamulack notched his twelfth save of the season.
Bridgeport finishes the series against the Lancaster Barnstormers on the road on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Bluefish will send lefthanded starter Gilbert De La Vara (3-3, 4.25 ERA) to the hill against righthanded starter Alan Johnson (3-4, 6.09 ERA). The pre-game show airs twenty minutes before each first pitch.
