Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll has been named the Oakley/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week, the league announced today. Last week, Carroll was a perfect 3-0 in three starts with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .947 goals-against average for the Mudbugs.

Carroll made 26 saves on Monday night to get the ball rolling as Bossier-Shreveport came from behind to defeat Laredo 4-3 at the CenturyTel Center. The next morning at 10:00 am, Carroll was back between the pipes as the 'Bugs faced rival Mississippi in the RiverKings' annual "Face Off Field Trip" game for local school kids. The 8th-year Mudbugs goalie turned aside 39 shots and held Mississippi to an 0 for 9 day on the powerplay as the 'Bugs earned a hard-fought 2-1 road victory. Then on Friday night, Carroll started for the seventh consecutive game as the Mudbugs hosted Rapid City. The Oil City, Ontario native saw 45 shots from the Rush that night, stopping 43 of them as the 'Bugs won their third straight game by a final score of 4-2.

Carroll holds a 15-5-2 record in 22 appearances this season and has gone an impressive 8-1-1 in his last ten starts. He is tied for first in the CHL with a .926 saves percentage and his 2.47 goals-against average is tied for fifth. Carroll was named Oakley/CHL Goaltender of the Week once last year and won the Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month award twice in back-to-back months (December '07 and January '08). Carroll is a five-time CHL All-Star, a two-time winner of the league's Most Outstanding Goaltender award and was also named WPHL Rookie of the Year on his way to helping the Mudbugs win the 2001 President's Cup Championship. He is the CHL's all-time leader in career shutouts and ranks fourth in league history in wins.
