Carreno Pitches Fisher Cats to Win in Akron

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Akron, OH)-Joel Carreno allowed one run on three hits in six strong innings and Danny Perales went 2-for-4 in his first game of the season for the Fisher Cats, driving in two runs, as the Fisher Cats opened a roadtrip with a 7-2 win in Akron on Tuesday night.
Carreno (5-4), who's on the Blue Jays 40-man roster, walked four and struck out eight Aero batters. It was his ninth consecutive start in which he has struck out at least seven for New Hampshire.
Akron (31-34) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Travis Hafner, on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment from Cleveland, led off with a walk. Nick Weglarz walked and Jason Donald singled Hafner home to put the Aeros in front.
The Fisher Cats (38-25) took advantage of wildness by Akron starter Kelvin De La Cruz (4-4). Travis d'Arnaud singled to start the inning before De La Cruz walked five hitters to give the Fisher Cats a 3-0 lead. Perales greeted reliever Bryan Price with a two-run single and Adeiny Hechavarria hit a sacrifice fly for a 6-1 lead.
New Hampshire added a run in the top of the sixth inning when Callix Crabbe homered deep to right field to make it 7-1.
Akron scored its final run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Beau Mills doubled and advanced on consecutive groundouts to make it 7-2.
The Fisher Cats continue the roadtrip on Tuesday night at Canal Park in Akron. RHP Henderson Alvarez (3-1, 3.10) starts for New Hampshire against Aeros RHP Joe Gardner (3-5, 4.47). Game time is 7:05pm and radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman begins at 6:45pm.
