
Carranza Earns Second Career Hat Trick; Gazdag Scores 13th Goal Of The Season

CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union defeated D.C. United 6-0 on Saturday night at Audi Field. With the win, the Union remain in first place in the Eastern Conference with 51 points. In the first half, forward Mikael Uhre opened the scoring in the 37th minute to put the Union in the lead. The Union were awarded a penalty in first half stoppage time where midfielder Daniel Gazdag stepped up to the spot to register his 13th goal of the season. In the second half, forward Julian Carranza scored his 10th goal of the season with a finesse shot in the 47th minute. Later in the second half, Carranza scored his second goal of the match to make it 4-0. In the 74th minute, Carranza earned his second career hat trick, making him the first player in club history to score two hat tricks. Forward Cory Burke scored his sixth goal of the season in the 79th minute off a through ball played by Homegrown midfielder Jack McGlynn. Goalkeeper Andre Blake earned his 11th clean sheet of the season, the second most in the league.
The Union are home at Subaru Park on August 27th where they will face the Colorado Rapids. (7:30 p.m. ET / PH17).
