Austin FC News Release
Saint Paul, MINNESOTA - Sebastián Driussi's league-leading 18th goal of the season was not enough for Austin FC on Saturday night, as the Club lost 2-1 to Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field. Driussi has now scored in five consecutive matches and contributed to at least one goal in nine consecutive matches.
Emanuel Reynoso converted a penalty kick to open the scoring for Minnesota after 25 minutes. Things turned around for Austin in the moments before halftime, beginning with a spectacular save by Brad Stuver on a well-hit volley from Alan Benitez.
The Verde & Black then got a penalty kick of their own in first-half stoppage time, which Driussi dispatched to level the match.
The Loons took the lead again in the 62nd-minute thanks to Franco Fragapane, who forced a turnover and finished the chance himself. Austin battled to get back into the match, with Jon Gallagher seeing a solid effort blocked wide and Driussi nearly doubling his tally. Ultimately though, Minnesota's defense held firm.
