Zebulon, NC --- Henry Rodriguez singled home Jake Kahaulelio in the bottom of the ninth with the winning run as the Carolina Mudcats defeated the Jackson Generals 4-3 at Five County Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Generals' Johermyn Chavez hit a game-tying home run against reliever Chris Mobley after a deflected line drive brought Chavez up as the tying run.
However, Kahaulelio doubled with one out in the ninth to set the stage for the victory. James Skelton followed with a single to right, moving Kahaulelio to third. Quintin Berry worked the count to 3-1 before being intentionally walked ahead of Rodriguez's game winner.
James Avery recorded a no-decision despite throwing 6 1/3 innings of shutout baseball. Tim Gustafson allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings in taking the 3-1 lead to the ninth for Mobley.
Carolina (11-12) trails the six-game series 3-2 ahead of Monday night's finale.
