Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS-Sunday afternoon's game between the Mississippi Braves and Tennessee Smokies was suspended in the top of the third due to unplayable field conditions. Heavy rains drenched areas of the infield before the grounds crew could cover it completely.
Play will resume at 5:00 PM Monday afternoon, followed by the regularly scheduled series finale 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Sunday's game. Game one will go a full nine innings, and game two will be a seven-inning affair.
After scoring in the top of the first inning, the Smokies hold a 1-0 lead. With Steve Clevenger at the plate and a 1-2 count, play is set to resume with no runners on base and one out in the top of the third.
In the second game, lefty Brett Oberholtzer (6-9, 3.98) is expected to toe the rubber where he'll take on right-hander Austin Bibens-Dirkx (0-0, 0.00).
Gates open at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon. Fans with tickets for this afternoon's suspended game may exchange their tickets for tomorrow's contests or any of the remaining 2011 M-Braves games at Trustmark Park.
