Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - After six innings of lead changes and solid offensive production from both teams, Mobile and Chattanooga put the brakes on scoring runs.
The BayBears waited until the twelfth inning to finally score again, which resulted in a 7-5 win over the Lookouts in Sunday afternoon action at AT&T Field. The Lookouts offense wasted very little time taking an early lead. In the first inning, Elian Herrera set the stage by walking and swiping second base. Scott Van Slyke followed with an RBI double to account for the first run of the game. Brian Cavazos-Galvez then drilled a two-run shot over the left field wall to give Chattanooga a 3-0 lead.
Mobile countered with two runs in the second inning, highlighted by a Jacob Elmore RBI single, and another run in run in the third inning by means of Marc Krauss RBI single.
The BayBears temporarily took the lead in the top of the fifth frame by plating a run on another RBI single from Krauss, but the Lookouts matched and raised Mobile with two runs in the bottom portion of the inning. Lookouts starting pitcher Allen Webster legged out a bunt single to lead off the inning. Alfredo Silverio then nailed a double to left, pushing the hustling Webster to third. After Herrera stuck out, Hector Gimenez came through in the clutch with a softly hit single that landed ever-so-gently in left field to give the Lookouts a 5-4 edge.
The seesaw narrative continued in the sixth inning, as Adam Eaton hit a solo shot for the BayBears to tie-up the score, 5-5.
After the barrage of runs in the first six innings, both teams' respective offensive remained dormant until the top of the twelfth inning, when Mobile finally broke the stalemate. A fielding error by Lookouts third baseman Travis Denker allowed Ryan Wheeler and Taylor Harbin to score.
Ryan Cook shut out the Lookouts in the bottom portion of the inning to earn save number 13 on the season.
Josh Wall (3-3) was the hard-luck loser for the Lookouts, while Billy Spottiswood (4-2) was credited with the win.
The Chattanooga Lookouts and Mobile BayBears will wrap up their six-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
