Zebulon, NC --- Jose Garcia lost his aim on perfection in the seventh, but won his third Double-A game as Carolina defeated Huntsville 8-2 before 6,285 fans at Five County Stadium on Friday night.

Garcia (W, 3-3) retired the first 18 batters of the game before Travis Ezi ripped a low liner over first base for a double to begin the seventh inning. Garcia permitted two runs, but dominated the Stars (11-18) en route to his third win. Garcia fanned 10 and didn't walk a batter. The only close call Garcia experienced in the first six innings was destroyed when right fielder Brett Carroll made a sprawling catch of a pop fly by Ryan Braun.

Carolina (12-17) scored twice in the first inning and three in the second to knock out starter Tim Dillard. Brett Carroll homered in the third against reliever Matt Yeatman for a 6-0 lead. Kevin Randel, who singled in a run in the first, drove in another with a sacrifice fly in the second, then homered with a man aboard in the seventh.

Scott Tyler and Chris Mobley each pitched a scoreless inning to complete Carolina's third win in four games over the Stars.

Manu Olivera (3-6, 3.39) starts for Carolina Saturday night against Corey Thurman (2-8, 2.74) at 7:15 PM ET.
