Montgomery Biscuits News Release
JACKSON, Tenn. -- Four errors debilitated the Montgomery Biscuits at Pringles Park Wednesday night, leading to a 5-3 loss to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.
The Diamond Jaxx took a first-inning lead on two errors by second baseman Johnny Raburn. They scored again in the fourth after Montgoery starter Jason Cromer threw a wild pickoff attempt. They added two more runs on four consecutive singles and a sacrifice fly in the third inning.
It could have been worse for Cromer, who allowed four runs, two earned, in 3 2/3 innings. He surrendered nine hits and forced himself to work out of some tough jams.
Matthew Maniscalco leaked a bases-loaded, two-out, two-strike single through the right side of the infield in the fourth inning, which briefly brought the Biscuits within a run at 3-2. Montgomery again loaded the bases in the seventh inning against West Tenn starter Juan Mateo, but relievers Carmen Pignatiello and Andy Shipman allowed only one of those runs to score, holding it at 5-3.
The Biscuits retained a share of first place with Jacksonville's loss.
Game four of the series is Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Montgomery righty Jim Magrane (11-7) takes on West Tenn righthander Federico Baez (2-2).
