Cleveland Barons News Release

USA Hockey Under-18 team goalie Chris Carlson has signed to play for the Cleveland Barons Junior A team.

Tim Alexander, GM/head coach of the Barons, announced the signing of Carlson, a Plainfield, Illinois native. The past two years, the 5-foot-10, 171 pound 17 year old has been playing with the United States National Development Team in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In the 2003-04 season, Carlson played in 21 games, posting a 11-7-2 record with a 3.63 GAA and a .874 save percentage. In five NAHL games for the US NDTP, Carlson was 3-1-1 with a 1.77 GAA and a .939 save percentage with one shutout.

"We are very excited that Chris has decided to play for our hockey club this coming season, "stated Alexander. "With his experience playing college and international games the past two seasons, he will very much be a leader on our team. Chris handles the puck very well and that should be a big asset to our defense. I am sure he will draw a lot of attention from college scouts."

In international play, Carlson has a 6-0 record.

Carlson played midget hockey with the Chicago Chill. With the Chill in the 2001-02 season, Carlson posted a 33-11-1 record with a 2.19 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
