Mahoning Valley Phantoms News Release
The Ice Zone in Boardman, Ohio, home of the Youngstown Phantoms Hockey Club, has announced major additions to the facility for the 2004-05 season.
The facility will undergo changes in numerous areas to accommodate the day-to-day operations of the Phantoms. Most noticeable to the public will be the additional seating capacity. The arena will hold just over 1500 seats when the Phantoms take the ice for their home opener on October 29th. Also a full-service restaurant will open, located in the new sections of the arena.
Along with the additional seating to accommodate the growing fan base, the arena is also adding a brand new team operations center for the Phantoms. The center includes a 1400 square foot dressing room, a state of the art off-ice weight and conditioning center -- with a full training and rehabilitation room -- a player lounge, and a game-day office equipped with the latest video editing equipment for the coaching staff.
Bob Mainhardt, the head coach and general manager of the Phantoms said, "These facilities are just another step the organization is taking to become the premier Jr. A franchise in the country.
"With the players today getting more and more dedicated to becoming the best athletes they can be at such a young age, we are committed to providing the resources they need fulfill their goals".
The seating and restaurant at the facility are scheduled to be completed near the end of October while the team facilities are slated for completion in December.
Youngstown is the host site for the NAHL North Division showcase in January, 2005.
