Golden Brett boosts Bandits
August 11, 2004 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
St. Louis Bandits News Release
Brett Hull, NHL superstar and part-owner of the Texarkana Bandits, joined another former NHLer, Kelly Chase, also a Bandits co-owner, in Texarkana on August 4, to help promote this year's Bandits team.
The third leading NHL goal scorer of all time 741 goals in 1,264 regular-season games, Hull trails only Wayne Gretzky (894) and Gordie Howe (801) on the all-time list.
"It was a great event to kick off the new year," said Bandits coach Jon Cooper. "The community has really rallied behind us and Brett was fantastic with the fans. He did not leave until every autograph was signed and picture was taken."
A day after signing autographs in Texarkana, Hull signed a new deal to play for Gretzky's Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL.
Hull made a guest appearance at Minton's Sportsplex, the official workout facility for the Bandits, where he signed autographs and met with over 300 local fans.
Hull provided inspiration to last year's Bandits with a pre-game speech he made to the team at an NAHL Showcase in Michigan.
