Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
MOBILE, Ala. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's games against the Mobile BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium at 2:05 p.m. ET.
Right-handed relief pitcher Collin Cargill has been transferred from the Suns to Triple-A New Orleans. With Jacksonville this season, Cargill is 1-1 with a 3.44 ERA in 15 relief appearances. Cargill has been with the Zephyrs before this season, going 0-1 with a 8.10 ERA in six relief appearances and six and two-thirds innings pitched.
In a corresponding move, right-handed relief pitcher Casey McCarthy has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. With the Hammerheads this season, McCarthy has pitched in 14 games, going 2-3 with a 3.20 ERA in 25 and a third innings pitched with one save. McCarthy also pitched earlier this season with Single-A Greensboro, where he was 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA in seven appearances.
This is the first call-up to the Double-A level in McCarthy's career, and he was selected by the Marlins in the 28th round of the 2012 draft out of California State University - Santa Barbara.
The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players and a revised roster is attached.
Friday's ballgame between the Jacksonville Suns and the Mobile BayBears from Hank Aaron Stadium was suspended due to a heavy rainstorm that came through the Mobile area. The Suns led 4-3 with Joe Benson on first base and Terrence Dayleg at the plate with one out in the top of the sixth inning before the game was suspended on Friday night.
The game will be resumed and completed on today starting at 1:05 p.m. CT (2:05 p.m. ET). The two teams will finish off the series with a full nine-inning ballgame about 30-45 minutes after the completion of Friday's suspended game to conclude all of Saturday's action from Mobile.
For the series finale, the Suns will send out right-hander Jose Urena (6-5, 4.37) while the Barons will counter with a righty of their own in A.J. Schugel (3-1, 4.11).
Suns fans can listen to all of Saturday's action on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or throughwww.jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 1:50 p.m. ET starting with the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show.
