Cardinals Slide Past Travelers

North Little Rock, AR - The Springfield Cardinals (5-5, 36-43) jumped out quickly with a three run first inning and went on to defeat the Arkansas Travelers (6-4, 42-37) 8-2 on Friday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. Travelers starter Levi Stoudt lasted only 0.1 innings as six of the first seven batters reached as he threw 38 pitches. Springfield pulled away in the fifth through seventh innings after the Travs had pulled within one. Kyle Leahy pitched five frames for the Cardinal win with Domingo Robles going the final four to lock down the save.

Moments That Mattered

* Springfield scored three times in the opening inning with Matt Koperniak's RBI single knocking out Levi Stoudt after seven batters and 38 pitches.

* Connor roped an RBI double in the fourth inning pulling Arkansas within one but the ball went under the fence for a rule book double likely preventing the tying run from scoring on the play.
