Surge Fall Short in Extras

Wichita Wind Surge News Release
Wichita, KS- The Wind Surge fell short to the Amarillo Sod Poodles 6-3 on Saturday night in extra innings as the Sod Poodles scored four runs in the tenth inning to take the series lead.
Tied 2-2 in the tenth inning, Amarillo scored four runs behind an RBI double from Edouardo Diaz that scored two and RBI singles from Drew Stankiewicz and Tristin English that gave the Sod Poodles a commanding 6-2 lead. Diaz led the way for Amarillo as he went three for five with two RBIs.
Wichita newcomer Nash Knight made his Wind Surge debut on the night and hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the fifth inning that gave Wichita a 2-1 lead.
Kody Funderburk got the start on the mound for Wichita and pitched five innings and allowed only one run on four hits and struck out three hitters before being relieved by Cody Laweryson in the sixth inning.
Notes: Nash Knight hit his first home run in his first game with Wichita this season... The Surge are now 1-3 when wearing Tumba Vacas uniforms... Wichita turned a season-high three double plays in the ballgame... The Surge played back-to-back extra-inning games for the first time this season. The Surge added infielder Nash Knight in a trade from the Texas Rangers.
Coming Up: The Wind Surge will resume play against the Amarillo Sod Poodles tomorrow, July 10th for the series finale. First pitch is at 1:05 and gates will open at noon. Daniel Gossett will get the start on the mound for the Wind Surge and Brandon Pfaadt will be on the hill for Amarillo. The game will be carried by radio ESPN Wichita 92.3, MiLB.com and Windsurge.com
