Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI - David Leal pitched seven innings of two-run ball and the RockHounds hit three home runs to back their southpaw in a 6-2 victory over the Hooks Saturday night before 5,803 fans at Whataburger Field.
Midland has won seven games in a row and the club boasts nine straight wins against Corpus Christi.
Julio Robaina held the RockHounds to three singles over the first four innings. William Simoneit's lead-off homer in the fifth made it 2-0 Midland. Two outs and one walk later, Logan Davidson hit his 11th home run of the year for a 4-0 bulge.
Freylin Garcia kept the visitors off the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh. Garcia struck out two and allowed a single in the eighth before giving way to Jojanse Torres. Kyle McCann greeted Torres with a two-run dinger to right.
The Hooks scored their runs on three consecutive hits to start the sixth. Grae Kessinger cashed in on a Jordan Brewer knock with a double to right-center. Abreu then plated Kessinger via a single to right field. It marked the final hit for CC.
The Hooks, who have dropped a season-high six consecutive games, plan to pitch Jose Bravo in Sunday's series finale. First pitch 5:05.
